3 Tennessee Football Players Arrested
ByThe Tennessee Thugs are back to their old ways. It seems as if, over the years, that the Tennessee Volunteers has had their share of felons, and today's news adds to that dubious legacy. There were 3 Tennessee football players arrested early this morning on charges of armed robbery according to reports by the Knoxville Police dept. The players were WR Nu'Keese Richardson, DB Janzen Jackson and DB Mike Edwards. They were charged after attempting to rob two men at a gas station in Knoxville.
The victims told police investigators that they were sitting in a parked vehicle at the gas station close to Tennessee's campus when two of the suspects alledgedly held them up with a handgun. When the victims communicated that they had no money to give, the suspects took off with a third man and a lady driving a Toyota Prius. Police caught the car and the victims identified the suspects. A pellet gun, drug paraphernalia, black hoodies, and a possible bag of marijauna was confiscated. The players were also caught wearing Tennessee football clothing from the football dept! Needless to say, those guys weren't the brightest bulbs on Neyland Avenue.
This incident is the first arrest under Lane Kiffin's short, but tumultuous, tenor as Rocky Top's head coach. Kiffin has promoted the his program's discipline and clean arrest record as recently as this Wednesday's SEC teleconference. The arrest happened at 1:43 AM this morning.
The athletic director of TennesseeMike Hamilton released a statement today about this incident: "At this time we are currently evaluating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson and Nu'Keese Richardson," Hamilton stated. "Any decisions or comments regarding their status will not be made until the evaluations are complete."
