The Tide Looks to Sweep LSU
By
Since losing at South Carolina a few weeks ago, the Crimson Tide has been on roll and have gotten themselves back into the mix for an NCAA Tournament bid. The Tide (16-7,5-4) can keep their momentum going with a victory today at LSU tonight.
The last time the Tide faced the Tigers, they won 69-53 behind Trevor Releford's 20 points. And although LSU is 3-6 overall, they are 3-1 at home losing only to Kentucky. Anthony Grant knows his team has to be prepared for whatever LSU throws at them.
“The last time we played them we had some success and I think that we shot 50 per cent from the field,” Grant said. “So we will have to be ready for some defensive adjustments that they will make, and make sure that we do a better job of taking care of the basketball because we had 15 turnovers in that game.”
We already know the Tide's defense can shut down any team, but if the Tide wants to keep winning it starts with their offense. As with the Auburn game, the Tide will need Releford and JaMychal Green to continue their hot shooting along with help from the bench.
Over the last four games, the Tide's bench especially reserve Charles Hankerson Jr., has stepped up to be a leader off the bench. Hankerson has scored 14 and 10 points in Tide's last two games including having three three-pointers against Auburn which helped Bama's inside game.
LSU is led by the 13 points a game average of Justin Hamilton; Anthony Hick and Andre Stringer both average 9.9 points a game.
If the Tide plays the way it did in their first contest against the Tigers, they should win easily tonight. Alabama/LSU game will be 6pm tonight on ESPN2.
