Tide Men’s Basketball Team Looking to Bounce Back Against Dayton Tonight
By
After a tough loss last Thursday night against Georgetown, the Tide travels to coach Anthony Grant's old stomping grounds visiting Dayton Wednesday night.
The Flyers come into tomorrow night's game with a 5-3 record losing their last two games by double digits to Buffalo and Murray State
But according to Grant, the Flyers record doesn't indicate how good they are.
"If you look at Dayton, they’ve had some quality wins on the year, obviously a very tough team at home,” said Grant.
Dayton won the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida during the Thanksgiving Holiday defeating Minnesota, Fairfield, and Wake Forest.
But just like the Tide, the Flyers have struggled recently from the three-point line in two of their three loses and look to improve their shooting percentage.
Grant's main concern is not only shooting better from the three-point line, but getting more touches for his big men inside.
“The fallacy there is that people think to beat a zone, you’ve got to shoot the ball (well) from the perimeter,” Grant said. “I disagree with that. I think obviously there’s a
lot of different ways, but no matter what you do, the ball has to go inside-out.”
Since going 48-2 at home, Dayton has dropped four of seven against top 25 opponents; the Tide is looking to make it four of eight Wednesday night.
