Tonight Alabama took down Colorado 62-61 in a tough semi-final game of the NIT. The game was won on a Trevor Releford drive to the basket for a lay up with 12 seconds remaining. Colorado took one shot at the end but missed the outside jumper.

Alabama will play Wichita State in the finals of the NIT for the chance to be one of only 2 teams in Division I basketball to win its last game.

Alabama narrowly missed the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Kentucky in the SEC tournament. Looking back at Kentucky in the Final Four now, it goes to show you that Alabama could have played a few games in the NCAAs.

Nevertheless, the NIT gives the young players a chance to get some playing time, which is always a good thing. I believe it will carry over well into the upcoming season if the players will work hard in the offseason.

But first, lets enjoy Alabama playing in the final game of the NIT for a chance at an NIT Championship trophy.
