While the talk in the beginning of the season was how would the Tide defense cope without seven starters on defense, the talk now is how good they have been without those starters. To the surprise of many, the Tide defense hasn't miss a beat and in fact to this point this season, has put up better numbers then last year's defense.

This even impresses Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley who basically sums up how the Tide continues to be good every year without missing a beat.

“They change jersey numbers, not guys,” Dooley said on Monday. “They sign the same guys every year, just different names. They draft. We recruit. And they get the first 25 picks of the draft.”

The defense leads the nation in almost every category including overall defense.
