Clemson head football coach and Alabama alumnus Dabo Swinney, made an appearance today on the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss Clemson’s upcoming season and the 2011 season.

Finebaum asked Swinney about this year’s upcoming game and last year’s game.

“We've had a good camp & we're really excited about next week, said Swinney. “Should be a fun night and a great game.”

There was a bit of a controversy with some Auburn fans last year that were upset over Swinney’s celebration after Clemson’s victory over the Tigers. According to Swinney, they were excited about the moment and it was nothing personal.

“Clemson had not beaten AU in 60 yrs, that's a long time (0-14). It was a great day for our program.”

Swinney went on to say that he doesn’t feel the need to apologize for the celebration and that he still keeps up with both Alabama and Auburn football and that he has friends from both schools.

As for his team, the loss of their best player Sammy Watkins has created a void, but he hopes that his team will step up and accept the challenge that is in front of them.

“He's a great player- there will be a void. Not one guy will replace him, collectively 2-3 guys will need to step up.”

Auburn and Clemson kickoff the season next Saturday night in the Georgia Dome an hour before Bama and Michigan.
