Texas Coach Brown Comes to Saban For Advice
ByHow respected is Nick Saban among his peers? So much so that even coaches like Texas’ Mack Brown comes to him for advice.
Brown said today on the Paul Finebaum Show that after last year’s disastrous 5-7 record, Brown turned to Coach Saban for advice.
What did Saban tell Coach Brown? Hire new young coaches; Brown took Saban’s advice.
“I had to reinvent myself,” said Brown. “Looking back, naming Will (Muschamp) as Coach in Waiting was my mistake; wasn’t fair to him.”
Brown went on to say he expects his program to bounce back this year and be better then most people think.
I guess the “Sabanization” as Sports Illustrated put it of college football has even gone beyond just Saban’s former assistants and his reached as far as Austin, Texas.
Coach Saban may be dislike among some of his peers, but I’ve never heard anyone say that they didn’t respect his work ethic or how he runs his programs.
If other high profile coaches are coming to him for advice, then he must be doing something right and other coaches are copying his formula for success.
