Mount Cody, Finalist for Defensive Player of Year
By tempadminAlabama senior nose guard Terrence Cody was named one of five finalists for the 2009 Bronko Nagurski Trophy. He is in competition with Iowa linebacker Pat Angerer, Tennessee strong safety Eric Berry, TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes and Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to win the FWAA’s highest honors, its National Defensive Player of the Year award.
"Mount Cody", as fans lovingly call him, has led a stingy Alabama defense with 20 tackles, 5 for losses, 2 QB pressures, and one pass breakup. In the 12-10 win over Tennessee, he blocked a school tieing 2 field goals. One being the potentially game-winning kick.
Cody is also being considered for the Lombardi Trophy and is a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award. He is also on numerous All American lists, including the Sporting News mid season All American list. The winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on December 7th in Charlotte, N.C.
Personally, I believe McClain should be in the list too. But let's go Cody!
