Tide Gymnast Wins Quad Meet
ByAfter narrowing escaping the Georgia Gymdogs last week, the Tide won another close meet at Penn State Friday night.
The Tide would pull out a 196.175 victory over ninth-ranked Penn State who had 196.100. Michigan State finished third at 192.875 and Cornell scored a 188.850.
"While we didn't count any falls tonight, we had some miscues and gave away a few tenths here and there," Alabama coach Sarah Patterson said. "I really think our team has to learn from this. We are going to face teams that maybe we're a little bit more talented than, but if we're not at our best, we'll have another situation like tonight where it came down to the last routine."
The fifth ranked Tide needed Sarah Demo and Ashley Priess' 9.85's on the uneven bars to close out the meet.
Although Bama has won their first two meets, Coach Patterson says if her gymanast don't learn from their mistakes in a hurry, it will get them beat.
"We weren't as good as we can be tonight, and if we think for a second that kind of performance is going to keep us on top next week in Auburn, I don't think it will," she said. "We have to be better, we have to dig deeper and we have to be more team oriented."
