Tide Struggles in Loss to Vandy

By

Alabama had a chance to prove to the rest of the country last night that they were worthy of a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but instead the Tide came out flat.

Vandy defeated the Tide 69-59, but to be honest it wasn’t even that close. After Bama took an early six-point lead in the first half, the Dores took the lead and never looked back. At one point in the second half, Vandy led by as many as 23 points.

The same issues for the Tide that has plagued them in losses this year plagued them again last night and that was poor shooting. Bama only shot 33 percent from the field while holding Vandy to just 40 percent.

The bigger issue for the Tide last night was the lack of scoring from JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell. Green had six points last night while Mitchell had ZERO. Very unsual for a player who normally shoots a fairly high percentage.

While the front court players struggled last night, the backcourt did fairly well. Trevor Releford led the Tide with 14 points while shooting guard Trevor Lacy had 10 points and Levi Randolph add 13 points.

Whatever the issues the Tide had last night need to get solved in a hurry as they go to Lexington tomorrow morning to face the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats. Tip-off will be 11 a.m.
