Tide Tames Tigers Again
BySame two teams, different forum, same result. Alabama's domanice of the LSU Tigers (11-5,1-1) continued on the basketball court Wednesday night as the Tide defeated the Tigers 69-53.
The Tide got off to a slow start early on, but the team caught fire in the second half lead by the 20 points of Trevor Releford. Tony Mitchell added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds; LSU guard Andre Stringer led his team with 13 points.
"We understood the challenge. We met the challenge," Alabama coach Anthony Grant said. "It was a good win."
Bama shot 50 percent from the field while holding LSU to 35 percent from the floor. At one point in the game, the Tide was up by as many as 21 points just like Monday night's game and the Tide faithful didn't let LSU forget that as they chanted "Just like Monday" to taunt them.
LSU did cut Alabama's 14 point lead down to eight at one point in the second half before Bama went on 18-3 run to finish off the Tigers. The victory moved Alabama to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the SEC. They will now face the meat of their SEC schedule starting Saturday afternoon against Mississippi State in Starkville.
