It’s Confirmed: Jim McElwain to Coach Colorado State
By
After weeks of speculation and his name being brought up for several coaching positions from Memphis to Fresno State, Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain surprised everyone yesterday by deciding to become the head coach of Colorado State.
According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, McElwain's has agreed to a five-year contract worth $1.5 million per year, this.
Schlabach is also reporting that McElwain will stay on as Alabama's offensive coordinator through Jan. 9 to coach in the BCS Championship game against LSU.
This is kind of a good news bad news deal. The good news is that McElwain will stay on to coach the offense for the BCS National Championship Game; the bad news is the same. You wonder if McElwain trying to work two jobs is going to affect his play calling next month.
But knowing Nick Saban, they had already started preparing for LSU two weeks ago, so my guess is the game plan was already in or been worked on.
