Izzy Gould who covers the Tide for AL.com is reporting that both Jim McElwain and Kirby Smart have interviewed for the head coaching positions at Memphis and Texas A & M.
Reports out of Memphis are that the University of Memphis was very impressed with McElwain and that he is their top candidate. Along with McElwain, other candidates include: Former Tiger offensive coordinator and Pittsburgh Steelers assistant Randy Fichtner, North Alabama coach Terry Bowden and former Arizona coach Mike Stoops is also among those being considered.

The surprise of the day is when reports surface late last night from the Dallas Morning News that Kirby Smart interview for the Texas A & M job
Rumors had surface over a week ago that Smart was up for the Ole Miss job, but that turned out not to be true and confirmed that it wasn’t true by several people close to Smart. So far, no one has come out and denied Smart interview for the A & M job.
We’ll keep you posted.
