Like most fans out there, you may not a lot about Georgia Southern, Alabama’s next opponent. So, in order to remedy that, I’ve compliled a list of things you may not know about the Eagles.

*Georgia Southern is located in the small town of Statesboro, Ga which is just outside of Savannah. It is a town of 27,000.

*Head coach Jeff Monken use to be an assistant under Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson. That explains why they run the triple option.

*Georgia Southern averages 320 rushing yards a game which ranks second in the Division I AA.

*From 1985-2000 GSU won six DIAA titles in football.

*Ironically, the Eagles only loss this season was to another football powerhouse Appalachian State. Yes, the same team who upset Michigan in 2007/
