Who’s SEC Conference Streak Will Break This Weekend? The Gators
ByThis weekend’s Alabama-Florida game is one that features two SEC teams with the longest combined winning streaks in SEC football history. Alabama comes in having won 17 straight games, while Florida’s streak SEC conference win streak is at 16*. (*Note: The SEC Championship Game doesn’t count as a conference game when it comes to official record keeping). Saturday's winner still has a ways to go until they are able to catch the all-time SEC win-streak mark, set by Alabama from 1976-80 (27 straight SEC wins).
It simply doesn't get better than this in a regular season SEC match-up. The Florida Gators will be hunting for revenge and the Alabama Crimson Tide will be laying down its claim to SEC dominance on a march toward a 2nd national championship in a row. The stakes are high. Who will emerge when the smoke clears? I certainly believe it will be Alabama.
Alabama just come out of a hard fought game with Arkansas, and almost got beat. I feel like it was a lesson learned that will carry this team through the rest of the year. You have to come to the SEC games with your A-game. Coach Nick Saban is well aware of the challenge ahead.
"They’ve got good players at all the skill positions," Saban said. "They’ve got a good offensive line. Defensively they’re very active, run well, have a lot of team speed, and they play outstanding on special teams. This is as good of an all-around team as we’ve played all year."
