Kendall Kelly is Back Practicing Once Again with the Crimson Tide
ByTUSCALOOSA . After being held out of fall practices since the first practice in which he suffered from heat related illness, Kendall Kelly is back on the football field practicing for the Tide. This good news comes after missing 22 practices since August 5th. Kelly is expected to contribute to a thin secondary that is in need of help.
Kelly is a converted wide receiver who was very highly recruited out of Gadsden High School in northeast Alabama. The 6-3, 214 lb redshirt freshman as a 2009 high school prospect was rated a 4 star wide receiver prospect with Scout.com. After developing for a year as a redshirt, he is being trained to play in the secondary.
Coach Nick Saban made a comment about the status of Kelly by saying, "He's got to work himself back into shape," he said after Thursday's practice. "He got cleared medically to go out and play."
The good news for the Crimson Tide is that all the team is now healthy, as there are no more black jersey's being worn on the practice field one week prior to the start of the football season. Back in practice healthy is another young freshman whom the Tide plans to use in the secondary as well, DeMarcus Milliner. Also on the injury front in Tuscaloosa, a junior college transfer expected to contribute, cornerback DeQuan Menzie, "practiced some yesterday and the whole practice today,” Saban said. The JUCO transfer had been suffering from nagging injury from the two scrimmages.
Good to have you back Kendall!
