North Texas Coach Sounds Like A Class Act
By
If you haven't had a chance to hear North Texas Head Coach John Dodge speak, now here's your chance. This is the first time that I've heard him speak, and all I can say is that he is a class act.
At the first of this video he spends time talking about Greg McElroy and his prior relationship as a high school coach. Coach Dodge talks about how great McElroy was as a high school player, and the patients that he showed in being a backup quarterback until his senior year behind Chase Daniel, the star quarterback that went to Missouri. He says that it's pretty unusual seeing players that will be willing to be a backup for a certain period of time, and having the patience to see it through. Very good video discussing that coach/player relationship.
From the interview, you can tell why Coach Dodge was such a winner. Your task is tame for highly successful, and he had several mythical national championship teams in high school. He just seems like a class act from listening to him speak here.
I'm sure going to have his players really play, and we can't overlook the Mean Green this Saturday. This man knows how to coach and how to motivate.
We do not need to let our guard down. We were down 20-14 heading into the fourth quarter in the last game, and everyone remembers upsets of the past like Louisiana-Monroe. Gene Stallings once said something to the effect that small games like this seem unimportant until you lose one. So Bama, get your act together and hold off the North Texas Mean Green this weekend.
